13-17 February 2018 Performing Arts Connections Australia (PAC) and the NordicBaltic Festival Platform (NBFP) hosted 15 umbrella organisations, including IMMF, which work in the cultural sector, for the inaugural International Arts Associations Congress (IAAC). The meeting in Perth Australia was called to explore commonalities and opportunities for collaboration between the participant associations, and to build value for the individual members of the participating associations by sharing best practice and innovation in association benefits. Many constructive work sessions where held with the ISPA | International Society for the Performing Arts, the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA), AMPAG – Australian Major Performing Arts Group, Performing Arts Network of NZ (PANNZ), CircuitWest, Association of Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centres (AAPPAC) and others with participants from LATAM, Korea, China, USA, Europe, and Australasia. As a result it was agreed to draw up an MoU and take forward 5 topics: 1) The Value Proposition / Advocacy 2) Research 3) Programmes / Initiatives 4) Markets / Conferences 5) Digital tools
We would like to thank PAC Australia, NBFP and also the City of Perth, Fringe World Festival, Perth Festival, Perth Theatre Trust and the WA Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries who made this come to life and we hope for fruitful continued exchanges.
